At the beginning of the season it feels more like a more pleasant summer as heat starts to fade being replaced by comfortable daytime temperatures. As days go by the evenings become cooler with occasional cool breezes. 

 

Compared to spring, the beginning of the autumn season sees less rain showers, has more sunny days making in a great season to enjoy outdoor activities without worrying about getting caught by a sudden rain.

 

If you plan to visit Bucharest in November you should expect an unpredictable weather. While it may have pleasant daytime temperatures you may also experience sudden cold snaps with rain or even early snowflakes.

Winter is cold and grey, with snowfalls and frosts. 

You should expect short, chilly days with temperatures hovering around freezing (0°C/32°F) and frosty nights.

 

Every now and then, the city might get surrounded in a fog.

Bucharest's coldest month is actually a tie between January and February. 

 

Bucharest winters used to be a snowy wonderland, with snow covering the city from as early as November all the way through March. 

 

However, in the past years, we've noticed a shift. Snowfall has become less frequent and reliable, with snowy days now condensed into a shorter window, perhaps just one month per season.

 

Just to give you an idea how winter isn't anymore what is used to be, in the 2023 winter season we had almost a week in December with temperatures going up to even 18°C (64°F). 

 

How to dress in the winter season in Bucharest

 

Thermals and waterproof clothes are your best friends this season! 

 

Fleece jackets or sweaters, winter coats and waterproof pants for those rainy/snowy days. Because temperatures tend to rise year by year, the winter in Bucharest may bring also rainy days, so be prepared.

 

Keeping your extremities warm is very important so gloves, winter hats, thick socks and scarfs are essential!

 

The ski season in the nearby Carpathian Mountains is from December to mid-April so you'll see a lot of locals leaving the capital city this period.

Spring weather in Bucharest

Average temperatures: 10 - 23°C(50-73°F)

 

Spring weather in Bucharest can be mostly unpredictable. 

The winter chill starts to fade as days start to lengthen.  

 

The morning and the evenings still remain cold but the days cand offer you a pleasant temperature perfect for exploring Bucharest by foot.

 

Sunny days become more frequent at the same time as spring showers. 

Bucharest's spring can surprise you with occasional cold days or bursts of warmth.

Spring in Bucharest is the season where you need to mix-and-match so you can easily add or remove layers due to it's unpredictability.

Also this is the period when many events in Bucharest start and as the weather warms up, Bucharest's many outdoor cafes and restaurants start opening their terraces.
